Face Shield Selection

Choose Face Protection by Hazard & Coverage

Face shields are used to extend protection across the face for hazards such as flying particles, splash, debris and selected task-specific exposures. The correct shield, visor and carrier depend on the actual hazard and the workplace PPE requirements.

Verify the exact visor material, impact or splash marking, optical properties, carrier system and compatibility with the worker's primary eye protection, helmet or other PPE.

Layered Eye & Face Protection

Face Shields Do Not Automatically Replace Safety Glasses or Goggles

For many workplace tasks, a face shield is supplementary face protection rather than the primary eye-protection device. Approved safety glasses or goggles may still be required underneath.

Browse Safety Goggles & Protective Eyewear to build the eye-and-face system appropriate for the task.

Mounting Systems

Face-Shield Brackets, Carriers & Helmet Mounting

Current Keyline product evidence includes Dynamic face-shield brackets for standard-brim hard hats, cap-mounted systems, rubber-gasket versions, bump-cap brackets and related carriers.

Match the bracket or carrier to the exact Safety Helmet or Hard Hat. Do not assume helmet slots, adapters or carrier geometry are universal between brands or helmet families.

Visor Options

Clear, Specialty & Mesh Visors

Face-protection visors can use different materials and constructions for different hazards. Current Keyline product evidence includes clear face-shield systems and Dynamic wire-mesh visor products.

A mesh visor is not a substitute for a solid splash or impact visor when the hazard requires sealed or solid coverage. Choose the visor by the exact task and product rating.

Task-Specific Components

Dust Guards, Gaskets & Extended Coverage

Some face-shield brackets include rubber dust guards or gasket features that can help close gaps around the top of the visor for selected applications.

These features do not automatically make a system chemical-tight or dust-proof. Verify the full assembly and manufacturer instructions for the actual exposure.

Standards & Compliance

Eye & Face Protection Standards and Markings

Eye and face PPE may reference standards such as CSA Z94.3 or ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 depending on the product and workplace. The exact marking and application must be verified on the selected visor, carrier and primary eye protection.

Do not assume every face-shield component in the collection carries the same impact, splash, heat or optical designation.

Business & Program Orders

Need Face Protection for a Crew or Facility?

Keyline Safety can support eye-and-face PPE programs for construction, manufacturing, utilities, maintenance, laboratories, forestry and industrial facilities.

For a quote, provide the hazard, number of workers, required eye protection, helmet or hard-hat platform, visor material, mounting system, dust-guard or gasket needs, applicable standards and preferred brands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a face shield replace safety glasses or goggles?

Not automatically. For many tasks, a face shield is supplementary face protection and approved safety glasses or goggles are still required underneath. Follow the hazard assessment and exact product requirements.

How do I choose the right face shield?

Identify the hazard first, then select the visor material, coverage, mounting system and product markings appropriate for the task. Also confirm compatibility with the worker's helmet, hard hat, eyewear and hearing protection.

Can any face-shield bracket fit any hard hat?

No. Brackets and carriers must be compatible with the exact hard-hat or safety-helmet platform. Slot geometry, adapters and mounting systems vary between brands and models.

What is a mesh face shield used for?

Mesh visors can be useful for selected debris or forestry-style applications where ventilation and visibility are important. They do not provide the same barrier as a solid visor and are not appropriate for splash hazards unless specifically designed and rated for them.

What does a dust-guard or gasket do on a face-shield bracket?

A dust guard or gasket can help reduce open gaps around the upper visor area on selected assemblies. It does not automatically make the system sealed, chemical-tight or suitable for every dust exposure.

Which standards should I check for face protection?

Depending on the product and workplace, eye and face PPE may reference CSA Z94.3 or ANSI/ISEA Z87.1. Verify the exact marking and application designation on the complete selected system.

When should a face-shield visor be replaced?

Replace the visor when cracks, deep scratches, warping, clouding, chemical damage or other deterioration affects visibility or protection. Follow the manufacturer inspection and replacement criteria.

Can face shields be used with earmuffs?

Sometimes, but the helmet, face-shield carrier and earmuff mounting systems must be compatible. Check the manufacturer-approved accessory combination before use.

Which face-protection brands does Keyline Safety carry?

Current Keyline evidence includes Dynamic face-shield brackets and visors plus JSP integrated head-and-face protection products.

Can Keyline Safety help configure face protection for a workforce?

Yes. Share the task hazards, worker count, primary eye-protection requirements, helmet platform, visor type, mounting-system needs, standards and preferred brands when requesting a quote.

Shop face shields and face protection in Canada for construction, manufacturing, utilities, maintenance, forestry and industrial workplaces. Compare visor materials, brackets, carriers, helmet-mounted systems, dust guards and compatible primary eye protection.
