Everyday Hand Protection

Choose Work Gloves by Task, Material & Grip

Work gloves cover a broad range of everyday jobsite and industrial hand-protection needs, including material handling, construction, maintenance, warehousing, outdoor work and general utility tasks.

Start with the actual hazards and materials being handled, then compare glove construction, palm material or coating, grip, abrasion resistance, dexterity, cuff style, lining, weather protection and any cut or impact rating required for the task.

Durable General-Purpose Gloves

Leather, Driver & Fitter Work Gloves

Keyline Safety's current Work Gloves assortment includes leather utility, roper, driver and fitter-style gloves. Current Tough Duck products include cow-split and premium cowgrain fitter gloves, while Atlas includes leather utility and roper styles.

Leather type, palm construction, cuff design and lining affect durability, dexterity, warmth and the kinds of handling tasks a glove is suited for. Choose the exact style around the job rather than treating all leather gloves as interchangeable.

Grip & Dexterity

Coated & High-Dexterity Work Gloves

Coated knit gloves can provide a lighter, more dexterous option for handling, assembly and maintenance tasks. Current Keyline evidence includes Atlas nitrile-coated and high-dexterity glove products.

A nitrile palm coating does not make a reusable work glove the same as a disposable nitrile glove or automatically make it suitable for chemical handling. Select coatings for the actual grip, abrasion, oil and task requirements.

Cold & Outdoor Work

Lined, Insulated & Weather-Ready Work Gloves

For colder or outdoor work, the glove may need insulation, lining or waterproof features in addition to basic hand protection. Current Tough Duck work-glove evidence includes pile-lined, palm-lined, Thinsulate-lined and waterproof fitter-glove options.

Balance warmth against dexterity and grip. Confirm the exact product's insulation, waterproof construction and intended use rather than assuming every lined glove is waterproof or suitable for extreme cold.

Move to Hazard-Specific Gloves

When General Work Gloves Are Not Enough

General-purpose work gloves should not be used as a substitute for hazard-specific PPE when the task has meaningful cut, impact or chemical exposure.

For sharp-edge work, browse Cut-Resistant Gloves. For back-of-hand hazards, compare Impact Gloves. For chemical exposure, use Chemical-Resistant Gloves selected against the exact substance and exposure.

Worker Comfort & Control

Fit, Cuff Style & Dexterity Matter

Glove fit affects grip, hand control, comfort and how easily workers can perform detailed tasks. Loose gloves can snag or reduce control, while gloves that are too tight can restrict movement and become uncomfortable during a full shift.

Compare knit wrist, safety cuff, gauntlet and other cuff styles based on the task, debris exposure, forearm coverage, ease of removal and compatibility with sleeves or protective clothing.

Glove Maintenance

Inspect, Clean & Replace Work Gloves

Inspect work gloves for holes, tears, worn palms, damaged coatings, hardened or contaminated materials, broken seams and loss of grip before use.

Cleaning and replacement depend on the glove material and manufacturer instructions. Replace gloves when damage or contamination means they can no longer provide the protection, grip or control required for the task.

Business & Program Orders

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right work gloves?

Match the glove to the task and hazards. Compare material, palm or coating, grip, abrasion resistance, dexterity, cuff style, lining, weather protection and any cut or impact rating required for the work.

What are leather work gloves good for?

Leather work gloves are commonly used for material handling, construction, maintenance and general utility work. Leather type, palm design, lining and cuff style affect durability, grip, warmth and dexterity, so choose the exact construction for the task.

What is a fitter glove?

Fitter-style gloves typically combine a durable palm with a fabric or other flexible back and a cuff designed for general handling and worksite use. Construction varies by model, including lined, insulated and weather-oriented versions.

What are coated work gloves used for?

Coated knit gloves can provide grip and dexterity for handling, assembly, maintenance and similar tasks. Coating materials and coverage vary, so choose them based on grip, abrasion, oil and task requirements.

Are nitrile-coated work gloves the same as disposable nitrile gloves?

No. Nitrile-coated work gloves are reusable fabric or knit gloves with a nitrile coating on selected areas. Disposable nitrile gloves are a different product category. A nitrile coating also does not automatically mean the glove is suitable for every chemical.

What should I look for in winter work gloves?

Consider insulation, lining, wind and moisture exposure, dexterity, grip and the length of time workers will be outdoors. Verify the exact product's weather and waterproof features because not every insulated glove is waterproof.

When should I use cut-resistant or impact gloves instead of general work gloves?

Use hazard-specific gloves when the job includes meaningful sharp-edge or back-of-hand impact hazards. Select the glove using the appropriate cut or impact performance information rather than relying on a general-purpose work glove.

Which work-glove cuff style should I choose?

The best cuff depends on the job. Knit wrists can help reduce debris entry, safety cuffs can allow quicker removal, and gauntlet styles provide more wrist or forearm coverage. Check compatibility with sleeves and other PPE.

When should work gloves be replaced?

Replace gloves when holes, tears, worn coatings, damaged seams, contamination, hardening or loss of grip means they no longer provide the protection and control required for the task. Follow the manufacturer inspection guidance.

Which work-glove brands does Keyline Safety carry?

Current Keyline catalog evidence confirms Tough Duck and Atlas Workwear products in the Work Gloves collection, including leather utility, roper, fitter, lined, impact and high-dexterity styles.

Can Keyline Safety supply work gloves for a crew or facility?

Yes. Share the work tasks, hazards, number of workers, material and grip requirements, cut or impact needs, lining or weather requirements, cuff style, size range and expected usage when requesting a quote.

Shop work gloves in Canada for construction, material handling, maintenance, warehouses, utilities and industrial workplaces. Compare leather, fitter, coated, lined, insulated and high-dexterity work gloves by grip, dexterity, cuff style, weather protection and task requirements.

Return to Hand Protection & Safety Gloves or compare Cut-Resistant Gloves, Impact Gloves and Chemical-Resistant Gloves for more hazard-specific hand protection.
