Frequently Asked Questions
about Baffin Whitehorse Steel Toe & Plate Insulated Winter Work...

FAQ

Does the Baffin Whitehorse provide safety-toe and puncture-plate protection? −
Baffin style 8557-0019 specifies a steel safety toe and protective plate. These configurations are not interchangeable: a steel or composite toe, a protective plate and a metatarsal guard address different hazards. Match the exact model to your workplace PPE requirements rather than relying on the family name alone.
How warm is the Baffin Whitehorse and what does Tundra Rated mean? +
The Whitehorse (style 8557-0019) is Tundra Rated, for snowy winter environments and cold-weather work. Baffin associates this rating with moderate to high activity. The rating is based on testing and field experience, not a guaranteed minimum-temperature limit. Actual comfort varies with movement, fit, socks, exposure and individual conditions.
Is the Baffin Whitehorse waterproof, and what is the upper made from? +
Baffin lists Waterproof Base protection. This refers to the waterproof base rating; it should not be mistaken for a fully waterproof-breathable upper unless expressly documented. The catalog describes leather-based upper. Check the selected boot's construction and jobsite exposure requirements; waterproof ratings do not automatically establish chemical-protection suitability.
What grip and comfort features does the Baffin Whitehorse offer on the job? +
Baffin lists self-cleaning outsole design and oil- and acid-resistant outsole materials for the Whitehorse. These features can help with traction or comfort during work, but no boot is slip-proof. Review surface conditions, tread suitability and workplace hazards before choosing footwear.
Which work environments suit the Baffin Whitehorse, and what approvals are listed? +
The catalog recommends it for agriculture, chemicals, construction, food processing and manufacturing. Baffin lists CSA/ASTM Approved and ESR/EH Rated in the supplied product information. No exact safety-standard edition or certificate number is verified in the supplied product material. A listed industry is not proof of chemical-splash compatibility; check the manufacturer's chemical guidance and your site's PPE requirements.
